I’ve only ever needed to use a small inflatable boat in one pool—and that was because it had an island in the middle! Normally, I just rely on pole extensions to reach those tricky spots. Speaking of which, here’s a great tool that fits any standard pool pole and makes the job even easier: Primate X. Definitely worth checking out!
No, it’s not normal to get in a pool to clean it. That said, there are some pools I have opted to walk into at times in the shallow areas. I think you should consider adding some additional hazard pay or splash pricing into your monthly rate if you need to get in. lol. Plus I’d explain that some spots won’t be accessible during the winter time.
There are some pool setups out there that don’t seem to consider the regular maintenance part of having a pool. Best of luck to ya!
Haven't had to get into one yet for cleaning, have had to get into several or on a boat for closing with cable systems though.
I got a new pole for my riptide vac and have been absolutely LOVING the long 23.5' reach. It's the Skimlite Carbonlite 8'-23' pole https://skimlite.com/collections/carbonlite-poles/products/all-new-carbonlite-series-8-to-23-tele-pole-with-lever-lock-cl823l. Super strong pole and works great for reaching across wide pools. You can grab them at SCP for around $335. They do also offer pole extensions, but really if the entire pole isn't carbon it's too damn heavy to put on an extra 6' or 8' of extension on a 16' aluminum pole you would risk snapping it.
You may also benefit from trying to get them into a robot cleaner that would make your job a lot easier. I explain to people that while they may think the main reason for me to come to the pool is to get the debris out weekly, my main purpose is really to keep your water balanced and safe to swim in. A monkey can grab a pole and clean out debris, only someone with an understanding of water chemistry can make sure the pool is safe for you and your family. Plus having a robot will keep your pool clean all through the week, not just once a week. Of course you empty the robot and do a cleaning if necessary when your there but often times they will go for the robot.
