**Contest ends Monday, June 17th**

One of my technicians reported they had found the homeowner’s car keys in the skimmer basket and that he had been searching for them for a week.

Two things come to mind. A live baby skunk standing on the weir to keep its head above water. Thankfully he was too worn out to do anything when I got him out. I Kept him in a box long enough to make sure he would survive and when he became active again put him back in the bushes. I was surprised I didn’t get sprayed. Maybe he was grateful 😅

He is alive, just totally exhausted.

The second was a little more unnerving. Bent down to take the lid off the skimmer and out of the skimmer throat shoots a 16-inch rattle snake. Glad the noise of me opening the skimmer scared him out the pool direction instead of up in mine 😯

He was netted and released back to the hills. Thank God for 17ft poles LOL

My instagram has numerous other rescues @Trinitypool but these two were from the skimmer

Dead birds and rats 😭

There was this one pool that I always found what felt like everything that shouldn’t be, in the skimmer.

Baby toys, tab floater lid, dead flowers
Tab floater lid, ping pong ball, water ball, pieces of a noodle

At a Holiday Inn Express… a live baby possum.

BUT WAIT...THERES MORE.

Further down at the bottom of the basket was a whole dead fish. I didn’t snap a picture of the fish tho :(

When I first moved to Florida and started cleaning pools I had a skimmer jammed with leaves but when I opened the lid I saw a tail slither deeper into the basket. I freaked out and called the guy I bought the route from not sure what kind of snake I was dealing with. I managed to scoop enough leaves off the top with my net to reach the handle so I grabbed the whole basket and carefully took it over to the woods. I dumped it ready to jump back thinking this thing was probably pissed... to my surprise it RAN off. I called the guy back like dude what was that and he said oh you found yourself a Skink! They are harmless don’t worry.
