Phosphate Remover and Enzyme Combo Product:

Natural Chemistry Perfect Weekly & Pool Perfect & Phosfree are two such products. Allows chlorine to be more effective. Removes one food source for algae.

Mineral Technologies:

  • PoolRx+ NSF 50 approved EPA registered algaecide
  • Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate: 86.85%
  • Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate: 1.51%
  • Silver Nitrate: 0.40%
  • Chelated – suspended and won't drop out of solution
  • It prevents microalgae and algae of all types.
  • Reduces chemical use by up to 70%

Borates:

It's not algaecide, but it is algae stat.

Algae Growth Inhibition: Borates act as a biostatic agent, meaning they don't kill algae directly but inhibit its growth. They achieve this by affecting the enzymes inside algae cells, disrupting their ability to perform photosynthesis effectively.

@DavidSPL David - Thank you for your post. Our service team tests for phosphates and adds phosphate remover as needed. Are there tests for other algae food we should try?

Hi @Tom ,

This is one of the primary food sources that cannot be eliminated by cleaning the pool - like dead leaves and bugs (vacuuming). Other sources like fertilizer and nitrates are less common, and phosphates are the most common food source in most pools. You can test for Nitrates, but a positive reading is a death sentence for the pool water - as the only way to remove nitrates is a complete drain and refill.

I recently sat down with Fred Schweer of PoolRx to talk about why and how PoolRx works and when to use it. We also address common issues reported online. Check it out the video here!

We use Orenda CV-700 every week in every pool. I started doing this about two years ago and it made a big difference in the water clarity, lowered the chlorine demand, and it will keep the phosphates down without plugging up the filters. (it is best to remove the phosphates beforehand in order to keep them down) but the enzymes are amazing. And a little something extra that most people don’t know is that if you put it in a squirt bottle and add it down the middle of the pool it will push all of the debris to the edge like soap does and make netting the pool much easier and faster. I highly recommend using enzymes weekly and using CV-700 gives that added bonus of Phosphate control.
