New feature enhancement: Schedule checklist items to fit your workflow

Checklists in Skimmer help ensure service work is done at the right time—whether that’s checking chlorine levels, vacuuming, or filter cleaning. You can make checklist items required, ask for photo evidence, and build them into your routine so nothing gets missed.

With the new update** to checklists, Skimmer makes it easier to manage checklist items that do not need to happen at every visit and do not need to be billed for separately, like backwashing, line vac service, or regular filter cleans that are included with service.

**This feature enhancement is included in the Scaling Up and Owning The Market tiers

How it works

For admins:

  • Go to your customer’s profile -> pool -> service checklist -> add
  • Set a custom schedule for that checklist item—like monthly, quarterly, or whatever frequency fits your workflow.
  • Choose a start date for when the schedule should begin
  • You still get all the accountability tools you’re used to—like mandatory checklist items and photo requirements

For technicians(mobile app):

  • Skimmer separates checklist items into two sections: today’s checklist and upcoming checklists
  • Techs only see what’s relevant for the stop they’re on, keeping them focused and reducing clutter.
  • If a tech completes a checklist item early, like a filter clean, Skimmer resets the schedule automatically based on that date.

Watch the video below for a quick look at how the new checklist view works for techs in the field.

Please ensure that you and your team are using the latest version of the Skimmer mobile app(version 12.4) in order to access this update.

P:S: To complement this feature release, we are currently working on recurring work order schedules, a feature which will allow you set a work order to automatically repeat on a frequency set by you, so watch out for that :)

As always, please leave your comments and feedback below, we are here to help :)

Got a feature request / upgrade idea for you guys based on how I’m running my routes right now.

I have certain maintenance tasks—like a mandatory pool heater check—that I need to do and swipe to confirm every 3 to 4 months. Right now, Skimmer only lets me turn a checklist item on or off globally for everyone on a route or work order. The issue is that not all of my customers have heaters, so a global item means I'm swiping "complete" on equipment that isn't even there.

What would be a huge help:

The ability to schedule a mandatory "swipe to complete" task that only triggers on the route sheet every 3 to 4 months for specific accounts. Ideally, it would tie directly to the customer’s equipment profile (e.g., if "Heater" is checked in their profile, this seasonal task pops up).

Or…

Web Dashboard Bulk Management:

To keep administration fast, it would be awesome to have a bulk add/edit option on the web version. As a solo operator, I don't want to go into dozens of individual customer accounts one by one. I'd love to go to my customer list on the web, check the boxes for everyone who has a heater, and bulk-apply this recurring checklist item to all of them at once.

Let me know what you think, and I'm happy to beta test any early versions of a feature like this!

Now, if this has been talked about addressed or is currently available, Please disregard this message. And I apologize.

It's that time of year where I don't know what day it is 😎🤙
