Your friendly neighborhood Skimmer friend here.

I’ve met many pros out in the field, and some of you have sheepishly shown me how you track your installed items in your Notes app - or the items that you need to go purchase and buy for your customers.

I know plenty of you do it.  And you swear you haven’t forgotten to bill for installed items… or forgotten to purchase a part at the pool supply… are you sure though?

I am here to tell you about the Shopping List! Give yourself 5 minutes to watch the following 3 videos and see how much easier your life can be.

Here is how to add an item to the Shopping List...

And here is how you mark an item as purchased, and as installed!

Better than your Notes app. And bonus, all of this flows easily, seamlessly into the Skimmer Invoice Generator. Ahhhhh.

The products and shopping list are a great start, but we must do more work to make the most of them. We need the part number, supplier, cost, and quantity on hand (or needed). Additionally, it would be helpful to link the chemical dosages to the actual products, as these also need to be ordered and kept on hand.

I am trying to use more of the built in features in skimmer. I have been using shopping list for some time, but it just doesn’t work the way I would expect it to. It boils down to inventory management not only with parts, but with chemical doses as well.

It would be nice if I could run a report on my service accounts to see chemicals used and it warns “more chemicals used than bought”. Or “order more ABC” as you are getting low.

We need real inventory management built in. As @GreySharkPools  said we need part numbers, cost, ect. It would also be nice to have items by location as I have the truck, office, and storage unit.

*A bonus would being able to link with poolcorp/heritage/distributors to order.

Hey - this is really really helpful feedback guys. @Ryan81 @GreySharkPools  What kind of inventory management do you use today, if at all?

We keep ours in PSS since several larger customers are still in that system. Their inventory system isn’t perfect, but we can work with it. As previously mentioned, I can tie the dosages to the product item in PSS, but I cannot separate the dosage sizing from the product ordering sizing. We can also track the supplier we get it from (prices are checked monthly if we need to source elsewhere), the exact part number to reorder quickly, and the quantity on hand. This is where Pool360 got the upper hand as a supplier and software vendor; they can directly tie these together.

Funny enough I just spent the weekend putting most of my supplies in Square-Inventory. However, I would LOVE it to be built into Skimmer.

@GreySharkPools what is PSS?

Yes, maintaining multiple inventories is a huge time waster and even adding a few more fields to the inventory form and then adding those columns to the product view would be a quick win.
PSS is short for Pool Service Software
