Hi Everyone - is there a pool app out there that can give you the gallon capacity of a current pool when looking to take on a new customer (maybe just an address to punch in to get the figure) - I understand how to calculate from the CPO course I just completed, but thought there may be a quicker way to get the figure - I’m sure alot of these pool owners don’t even know their gallon capacity or they think they do and the figure is incorrect - Just trying to save time and be accurate…..

Thank you all in advance - hope you’re having a good work summer - brutally warm down here in SW Florida right now - take care and invest in some “poweraid” when it’s on sale…. Cheers from the rookie “Big Steve - BBG Pool Services”

Hey Bob I haven't had any luck with that same idea. You just have to set apart the  time and do math.

Since we primarily work with fiberglass pools, we contact the shell builders for specifications. For new plaster pools, we try to obtain specs from the designer or builder. Otherwise, we use a measuring tape to determine the pool's surface area and depth. I'm looking into the Moasure device to speed up the surface area measurements and embrace some tech!

Length X Width X Average Depth x7.48

You'll get the hang after a while for being able to look at a pool and know the gallons pretty close.

Patent that app idea ;)

When customers come in the retail store and don’t have a clue, I will use google maps to take measurements and base our initial tests off of that. It has worked well for us.

Lol yes I started doing that as well. They're usually good at giving an estimated depth of the pool, so that helps too

Hey Skimmer Almuni - Once I got the skimmer app a few weeks ago, they have a pool gallon calculator with all the shapes and sizes of the various pool configurations - I carry a measuring wheel on the truck just for the first time visits of new clients - get the measurements, put the figures in, the calculator does the rest and even puts the gallon in the clients customer profile - good enough for me - Im sure it will work well for you guys too….

Hi Big Steve, where can I find that calculator with all the shapes and sizes, is it on the skimmer website? I’m not seeing it on the app itself. Thanks!

Hi @SoPeachy! Katie here from the Skimmer Support team!

You can access the Pool Gallon calculator from the mobile app.

The easiest way is to open the app, go to the Route Dashboard, and click into a customer’s route stop for the day. There, you will see the section called Pool Info. Go ahead and click Edit. Next to gallons, you should see a calculator icon.

Click the calculator and fill out the following:

  • Choose a pool shape
  • Enter the pool length and width, or radius
  • Enter the pool depth

The calculator will estimate the pool’s volume based on the data you input!

Hi SoPeachy - in addition,, you can get a measuring wheel on Amazon for under $50.00 - make sure you get one with a 12 inch wheel - more accurate than the smaller wheels…
