Tiers: Scaling Up, Skimmer for Enterprise

Compatible LaMotte Spin Touch Devices: Models 3580, 3581, and 3582

Note: Update your Skimmer mobile app to the most recent version, and enable Bluetooth on your device.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Skimmer connects to your Bluetooth-enabled LaMotte Spin Touch, so you can transfer chemical analysis from the device to your mobile app. To activate, click Settings → Readings & Dosages → LaMotte Waterlink Spin Touch → Activate.

2. Match each available Spin Touch reading to one of Skimmer’s reading categories. If a reading doesn’t have a matching category, click Create New Reading.

When finished, click the button at the bottom of the screen:

  • Activate Spin Touch button if setting up for the first time

  • Save button if Spin Touch integration is already active

3. On the Settings page, hover over the link symbol to see which readings are currently connected to Spin Touch.

4. Ensure your app is updated on your mobile device, Bluetooth permissions are enabled, the Spin Touch is powered on, and that you have a strong data signal.

Click into the route stop. Tap the Connect to Spin Touch button at the top of the Readings box.

Note: Your device may ask permission for Skimmer to find Bluetooth devices. Allow, and the device will connect.

5. On the Spin Touch device, press the Send button, shaped like a paper airplane, to import the readings to Skimmer.

In the Skimmer mobile app, Spin Touch readings have a symbol that indicates they are from the connected device. If you touch any of those readings, you will access the Skimmer slider, and you can overwrite what the device uploaded by entering a new value. Once you have completed your entry, the imported symbol will be removed to indicate a manual override.

Note: If you forget to sync the readings, the Spin Touch saves the test history, so you can navigate to the timestamped readings in the Spin Touch and resend the results to the Skimmer app.

6. Once you’ve finished the route stop, you’ll see the same symbol in the customer’s service history indicating which readings came from a connected device.

7.  To manually disconnect a Spin Touch device, select Settings → Devices → Disconnect.

If the device goes to sleep, you’ll be reminded that you were connected, and you can reopen the app to reconnect.

If you have questions about the LaMotte Spin Touch, we recommend reaching out to LaMotte Support directly for hardware-specific support. But if you have any questions about how the device connects to or interacts with Skimmer, we’re happy to help.
